What is Thai Massage?
Thai massage is an ancient healing art that dates back over 2,500 years, rooted in Thailand’s rich wellness traditions. Influenced by Indian Ayurvedic medicine, Buddhist practices, and traditional Chinese medicine, it was originally developed as a spiritual and therapeutic practice designed to restore balance within the body.
This time-honored therapy combines rhythmic acupressure, gentle stretching, and assisted yoga-like movements to stimulate energy pathways known as Sen lines. Thai Massage, unlike Western massage, is an interactive experience, encouraging mindful movement and deep relaxation while promoting flexibility, circulation, and overall well-being.

Meet Our Founder
Originally from the tranquil village of Udonthani in Thailand, Naree "Sara" Wongkanya founded Down to Earth Thai Massage in 2016 and officially opened her studio in 2018. Deeply connected to her roots and inspired by the wisdom passed down through generations, Naree learned the values of patience, compassion, and mindful touch from her grandmother—an influential figure who shaped both her character and her path. This early guidance instilled in her a profound respect for traditional Thai healing and a lifelong dedication to authenticity.
Inspired by her heritage, Naree set out to share the therapeutic wonders of Thai massage with the La Jolla and San Diego communities. Her unique studio, located in the heart of La Jolla Village, is one-of-a-kind—clean, authentic, professional, and grounded in tradition.
Naree became a master of the art of "Nuad Thai" with over 10 years of dedicated training in Thailand, followed by another 5 years of training in the United States. She ensures that every therapist at Down to Earth Thai Massage is meticulously trained in this age-old tradition, offering clients an authentic touch of Thailand's healing embrace.
